While it’s great that they’re giving away free tickets, the festival was so poorly organized this year that any goodwill the freebies would have generated have all been drained. People who got free tickets are selling them on Craiglist. People who are AFI members did not receive their link to pre-order tickets until late in the day and by then many of the coveted showings were fully booked.
Who in the right mind would choose Grauman’s and Mann 6 to hold a film festival on Halloween? It’s already a clusterf*ck of sorts on Hollywood Blvd at all hours of the day, let alone during Halloween. On top of that, the galas made the area even worse than it normally is. Parking is a total night mare. Having your movie let out at the same time audience goers at the Kodak Theatre is worse than purgatory.
NEXT YEAR, BRING IT BACK TO THE ARCLIGHT AND SELLING INDIVIDUAL TICKETS!
