The best use of an animals in a film ? about 3 years ago

Herzog is the man when it comes to using animals: the end of aguirre with the monkeys, and the end of stroyzeck with the dancing chicken.

What is your Dream Project? almost 3 years ago

Im more interested in making movies from my own stories but books id love to adapt would be the Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea, The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene, Moby Dick and anything by PKD, Cormac McCarthy, Faulkner or Murakami

I guess my real dream project is to make some sort of epic expiremental spiritual film in the nature of 2001 or The Holy Moutain. Something that takes you on a journey, makes you think and opens your mind.

What Are Your Cinematic Moments of the "Ecstatic Truth"? almost 3 years ago

Just a couple off the top of my head:
Aguirre- when they push the horse of the boat and it swims to shore and gives the camera a really spooky look(this short and in most senses pretty ordinary scene really shook me for some weird reason), aguirre with all the monkeys at the end, when the lady walks into the jungle wearing a gold dress, the opening shot
Stroyzeck- the dancing chicken
Nosferatu(Herzog version)- When the chick walks through town and theres all the animals and fire and people party and making music
The Thin Red Line- lots and lots but the shot of the dying baby bird is the one that immeadiately comes to mind

I second Jim Thompson, The Killer Inside Me is a good one to start with. Also, Cities on the Plain by Cormac McCarthy or Light in August by Faulkner.

Andrew Dominik: Visionary or Wannabe? almost 3 years ago

I agree, hes the real deal. Chopper and AOJJBTCRF are incredible films, Chopper is one of the most confident and successful debuts in recent memory and Jesse James is probably my favorite film of the decade. Im really rooting for him to get Cities of the Plain of the ground, I think his sensibility would be perfect for the material.

Andrew Dominik: Visionary or Wannabe? almost 3 years ago

@Clayton White- I believe the script of Cities of the Plain was written by Cormac McCarthy, because that was the form he originally wrote it, even before he wrote the first two of the border trilogy. I think Sean Penn was interested in it but for some reason it never got off the ground. I sort of assumed Dominik was using this script but maybe he wrote his own.

Andrew Dominik: Visionary or Wannabe? almost 3 years ago

Oh that’s interesting. I just assumed he would go with Mccarthy’s because. you know, hes Cormac McCarthy. Dominiks was probably good too though. The Demolished Man and Pop. 1280 would have been interesting too. I dont care what he directs though, as long as it doesn’t take another seven years.
