I'll message you on the Uchida.* I really liked The Gospel According to St. Matthew. It's only the second Pasolini I've seen, and couldn't be more different from Salo, but the range he dhows in just those two films is pretty astounding. One of the best retelling's of the story of Christ ever made.
Bunuel was the only true Spanish filmmaker I believe accepted into the fore with the original group of surrealists... Obviously, Dali is a big subject to write about, but sort of one that's been done. I'm not particularly well-versed in this field so I would hate to give shoddy advice...* I think Grey Daisies, who I noticed you're also following, may know more than I on this subject. Though if I think of anything I'll let you know.* I do have one suggestion (which sort of comes out of left field... which seems in line with the tenets of surrealism)... I recently just saw Marker's "Remembrance of Things to Come," which only very obliquely deals with surrealism, but might stir some interesting ideas in regards to structure and how to approach thinking about surrealist art...* Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
