Recently I came across an article talking about “the death of cinephilia”. At the conclusion of the article, the writer presented two choices. One being, the acceptance of the death of cinephila. The other option was to consider the reinvention of cinephilia…that is the one I will choose.
I am starting a new website called ModernCinephile.com. It will concentrate on seeing film as art. There will be everything from film reviews and critical essays on films and filmmakers, to articles about trading on box office futures.
If you would like to contribute in any manor, please send me, Brian Roberts, an e-mail at: moderncinephile@gmail.com. I’d like to see a sample of your work. If you have any reviews or critical analysis or any essays, that would be perfect.
p.s. – if you’re an artist, I would love to see a logo or flier/poster…anything!
What was the first Criterion movie you watched? over 2 years ago
I’m sure that I watched a few in the past, but the first Criterion DVD I watched knowingly was probably Seven Samurai.

Rian Johnson, any fans/haters? It'd be interesting to hear how others feel over 2 years ago
Rian is one of my favorite directors. Brick and The Brothers Bloom are great films. The poetic, noir style of Brick is incredible!
