About Me

hello. I’m a 26 year old grad student in art history, and my feverish devotion applies not only to painting, sculpture, architecture, and new media, but to film, music, literature, design, television, theatre, etc. i have a voracious and insatiable appetite for culture and its artistic detritus, not only as a consumer of such but as a willing producer. i’m such a whore for this kind of stuff.

my sense of awe and wonder about film began probably with four films: The Wizard Of Oz, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, The Neverending Story and The Rocketeer. they are classic childrens films that for me fed my curiosity about the world in interesting ways. you could say those films were an early primer on the induced landscapes of Jodorowsky, Deren, Tarkovsky, and Cocteau.

i’ve been under art’s spell practically since birth, ignited when my aunt showed me her book on Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes and stoked by her and my parents as they exposed me to the arts, and then solidified in my high school AP Art History class.

i am all about the modern, the cutting edge, the avant-garde, the situationist, the difficult, the eternal, the maddeningly intellectual

A film can be many things to those who see its visions dance on the screen. Is it celluloid or diamonds? Or can it be both? A film can manifest reality or merely glimpse facets. A cog is revealed…  read review
