A real visual smorgasbord. I felt that his filmed moved more than that of say Ashes of Time - in themes of love, regret, loss, shifts in the past and future. Christopher Doyle is my favorite cinematographer in this one, and his lensing in "In The Mood For Love" was awe-inspiring. WKW have picked a better collaboration with Doyle.

There's something about LVT's Melancholia that sticks to my mind. Kinda like a cross between that and Lem/Tarkovsky's Solaris, but withouth the exotic virtuoso. And the two planets, big one and little one (as I seen the pics), looks mighty creepy. As we all know, Lars Von Trier may be a force not to be reckon with when it comes to cinematic aesthetics, but he doesn't disappoint.
