Jay B.: Filmography

2046

A real visual smorgasbord. I felt that his filmed moved more than that of say Ashes of Time - in themes of love, regret, loss, shifts in the past and future. Christopher Doyle is my favorite cinematographer in this one, and his lensing in "In The Mood For Love" was awe-inspiring. WKW have picked a better collaboration with Doyle.

Black Orpheus

Beautiful retelling of the Orphean myth, with the sights and sounds of Brazil. I really hope to own this gem.

Citizen Kane

Write Something... A classic in the most sense. It was a maverick of a film which didn't, I think, win hearts back in the 40's (including The Magnificent Ambersons), but became an awesome classic in the most sense. The cast including the 'man' himself - Orson Welles, Joseph Cotton, Agnes Morehead and the rest are outstanding - superb cinematography, sets and even Bernard Herrmann's score. A unique treasure.
