That is weird. In the U.S., "Coffin Joe" is pretty much the only thing anyone knows of Brazilian cinema (and even that is on the obscure side here in the U.S.! Only big time Horror film fans even know that name.). Sadly, people for the most part here don't know anything outside of the Hollywood system, and even when they do they don't acknowledge South American cinema at all. Over the internet is the only way I have found people that loves the films I do. Mojica is no joke to me. He is free with his filmmaking and the only joke is when you are not (Hollywood for the most part).
Interesting, here is the same thing about Hollywood, people tends to completely dismiss european and asiatic cinema, there is almost a kind of prejudice, as if these countries can only produce "boring" art house films rather than the "exciting" over-produced Hollywood factory of remakes and reboots. But, to be fair with you, most of our modern mainstream films are pretty bad, there is one big company here (Globo Filmes) and they usually finance projects like dumb comedies (in the same vein of Adam Sandler ones) or class z action movies.
Props for your Halloween II rating! Not many are willing to defend that wonderful film.
