Thom Powers is the documentary programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival; and the artistic director of the DOC NYC festival and the Stranger Than Fiction series, based at New York’s IFC Center. He is a programming consultant for the Miami International Film Festival. He has taught a documentary course at NYU SCPS for over 10 years and now teaches a class on producing for SVA’s Social Documentary MFA program. He co-founded the Cinema Eye Honors and the Garrett Scott Documentary Development Grant. Prior to working in film, he was an editor for Fantagraphics Books.
