Mark, there's a poll of favourite African films on Mubi forum thread, in case you're interested. A continent that certainly could do with promoting, as you know
Hi Mark I would just like to back what Kenji has said. All year I have been submitting African films onto to this site and creating a mini-database which can be found here http://mubi.com/lists/the-africa-project-part-1-algeria-congo-kinshasa. I have been following your series and have been really pleased with your promotion of African film. I am collecting a poll from users and contacting some filmmakers to see if they would participate. Here is the thread: http://mubi.com/topics/the-africa-project-a-movie-poll?page=1, or you can message me directly. I look forward to your contribution!
I'm enjoying A Story of Film. There was a clip from an old French film where you could clearly see where Jeunet was influenced in the Delicatessen montage bed springing, wall painting, mat being beaten, etc. (and possibly every Jean-Pierre Jenuet) film. Enjoying the series so far.
Just watching the start of Story of Film. Great stuff! Japanese the land of classics, yes, Senegal yes, racism by omission, yes, Kagawa Kyoko my heroine in the best film ever, yes- Sansho the Bailiff, that is, not Tokyo Story, ha.
