I watched this film with dread, fear and fascination since the black and white imagery was stunning. A critic once wrote that "White Ribbon" is Haneke's exploration into the origins of German fascism. It is that and more.
Scary, fun and sometimes funny (but you have to know your zombie films to appreciate the inside jokes). I didn't buy the ending because it was a bit of a stretch. Narrative-wise it was still interesting. Loved the "behind-the-scenes" video that showed the filmmakers' process. Excellent zombie flick.
Colin Firth and Julianne Moore had interesting sexual chemistry. Tom Ford's film is very stylized and pretty. Visually interesting but it still lacked depth. I guess I couldn't believe the protagonist's loss or mourning. Good film but not great.
Visual puns and horatian satire at its finest ridiculing urbanity and modernity. Loads of fun. Perfect for a quiet, winter evening.
Brilliant! Excellent cinematography, fascinating archival images and the gesture to connect radical histories across the globe. I also appreciated how the German activists were presented with warts and all -- their racism and sexism. Brilliant film. Just brilliant.
I want 85 minutes of my life back. This is a royal waste of time. The protagonists come across as shallow idiots. I was rooting for the monster the whole time. The only thing that was satisfying about the film was the ending -- since your misery (watching the film) was over.
