Perfectly evokes Beatlesmania.
It's the images that remain with you - Anita Ekberg in the Trevi fountain, the Madonna spotting and the subsequent media and spectator frenzy, the get-together of intellectuals at Steiner's house and later the chilling murder. Somehow the film is both dazzling and unsettling.
A majestic experience of stunning set detail and mise-en-scene, and at the core is a sensitive depiction of the aristocracy in waning power. Would love to see this on a big screen.
A terrific film and still very relevant in today's obsession with celebrities. The film pokes fun at the facades of advertisement. It shows how the advertising business spends so much time convincing ordinary people that they're lacking in something when they aren't. Alongside the social commentary is beautiful technicolor and great comedic moments. A very entertaining and thought-provoking film.
