Good lord. What to say? It was everything you could imagine from a historical piece by Cronenberg, and the acting... they were all just so emotionally invested. It makes me wonder what all of these incredibly talented actors/actresses are doing in these big budget Hollywood movies. Is there such a small audience for this kind of dramatic work now that actors/actresses have to turn elsewhere for money and respect?

I've never felt that mix of emotions before... I think only the Coen brothers could bring that out of me.

Boy, those last 300 pages really flew by.

I was led to this after watching Leon, and I'm glad I finally sat down and watched it. If you're looking for an 80s-90s stylized spec agent film, look no further. Speaking of the stylization, it really seemed to crop up at all the right times. It wasn't overbearing, and didn't obnoxiously dominate the action scenes. On top of the great style, Parillaud just kills it. I didn't once doubt the crazy.

After having just watched this for the second time, it is almost impossible to put into words just what I feel about this movie. It's like he knows exactly what I want in a movie, then makes a movie ten times more complex... and I am very seriously enamored with what that complexity.

I am trying to write a paper on this right now, and having seen it 5 times, I still find it difficult to grasp all that is going on. This is going to be an incredibly difficult paper to write, but I am going to enjoy every second of it. Thank you Cronenberg. Wow, I should have been a film studies major.

Beautiful, haunting, and extremely creative satire of Japanese sexism. Loved it.

Truly wonderful composition, but the narration tried its best to destroy that. The scenes were so alluring that they required none of the, as Savannah put it, hammy voice-over.

Just watched this last night, and really all I can say is wow. I would definitely recommend watching this alone, because I got chills multiple times thanks to the alienating aura that Polanski so artfully expresses with his vivid colors and cinematography.

Who doesn't love this man? Also, there is no image more badass than Mifune in full samurai armor.

How could you not love him?
