The problem with remakes is not that the great film was remade or reimaged; it is that the “new” audience they are trying to reach will never watch the original that inspired it.
My 15 year old daughter absolutely loves The Producers . . . but refuses to watch the original.
So we have all these people that are watching lesser remakes of masterpiece films and making judgments that shadow both films.
There is a great tracking shot in Kurosawa’s Rashomon, as the guy is walking through the forest.
It is very complex and swoops around the actor and through the trees.
I cannot believe that this was not mentioned before.

good examples to teach mise-en-scene and film language? almost 3 years ago
The waiting room scene in Ikaru, has some great examples of what you are asking for, and it is a short scene.
Perhaps you should consider showing scenes or clips rather than full films, to hold there interest.
