I was intrigued but in the end it didn’t do a whole lot for me to be honest. I’m also not a fan of Eraserhead though so take that however you will. Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Fire Walk with Me…these however are some excellent films. I owe it a rewatch some day as it was interesting but a little empty in the end.
Well I am far more likely to see a film that is well-reviewed and contains some good names then some crap like X3 or Walk Hard. I can tell when film companies are trying to sell me and it pisses me off just how well the masses fall for it. Conversely I will often watch a terrible film or two simply for the comedic value (a la Mystery Science Theatre) of making fun of them. Some nights you can do no better then The Room, House of the Dead and Street Fighter over a case of beer. Good times.
How much does this stance on film (or art in general) piss you off? I find it be both irritating and ignorant. For example my brother (who couldn’t even make it through LOTR) seems to thinks it’s ridiculous that I refused to see Wolverine with him. I mean to people with this mentality value their time at all? Do they never ask themselves if there’s something more useful they could be doing then watching Robert Pattinson sparkle benignly for the 7th time?

I can see where some of you are coming from; I remember being pleasantly surprised at the stupid fun of Zoolander (a film that looked absolutely terrible) but as Marcello said: generally I’m right about whether a film will be crap or not.
Oh and on the Jason subject: Remember the one where he rams a piece of wood through the ends of a belt, ties a guys head to a tree with it and then twists it until his fracking head collapses. Jesus, now that was a kill.
In my opinion, film is mostly about discovery; it’s a way to see and experience things that may not be possible for you as a person or in reality in general. It is also a manner of therapy in that it helps you to forget your problems or identify them with those of the on screen persona.
