you have a gun and one bullet... almost 3 years ago

I don’t think I’d shoot anybody, but to somewhat satisfy the original question, I guess I would not be above pistol-whipping Michael Bay…repeatedly.

Weren’t the Chinese accused of using CGI to enhance their fireworks (or something like that ) at the opening ceremony of the olympics last year though?

I believe that it was the great 20th century thinker Flava Flav who shouted, " Don’t believe the hype".

LET'S TALK FRANKLY ABOUT MARTIN SCORSESE almost 3 years ago

Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull, The Departed, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets…

My point is, not enough people appreciate After Hours.

What are your thoughts on Scorsese's "After Hours"? almost 3 years ago

One of my favorite Scorsese movies, if not my favorite. Definitely his most underrated and under-appreciated.

The pacing really does pull you in.

There will be blood - the end almost 3 years ago

I must have missed the part about Eli’s homosexuality being revealed.

At what point did that happen? Was it said in the bowling alley or before that?

Oscar's Best Picture Nominees Will Expand to Ten almost 3 years ago

Good, I like even numbers.

Besides, both 5 and 10 are completely arbitrary numbers for nominees. Not like it mattered to begin with.

I mean, does anybody else feel that since film is art, and art is completely subjective, it is wrong to declare one film better than another, much less declare any film the “Best Picture” ?

Check out anything by Alejandro Jorodowsky

also, Caligula, produced by Penthouse (yeah, that Penthouse), written by Gore Vidal and starring Malcom McDowell, Helen Mirren and Peter O’Toole

Notable First Films almost 3 years ago

A lot of great debut films mentioned, but for some reason none impress me as much as Badlands (for a debut, that is). Night of the Hunter is a close second.

@ Patrick. I put ketchup on my hotdogs, so I guess I’m not a “real” chicagoan, but yes, I do live in chicago.

Funny hearing about the Effigies on this board. I used to live down the street from their bass player. I’m still friends with his kids.

what did you watch today? almost 3 years ago

Last Year at Marienbad, well half of it at least.

I plan on starting from the beginning tomorrow, preferably when I don’t have a headache that is making it even harder to follow this movie.
