"Bloodsport" is a very good 1980s formula film, but have you checked out "JCVD"? It's a far superior film; Jean-Claude is Oscar worthy in it. In the 1970s, maybe not--topping Peter Finch, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando et al would be too much. But...iIn the era of "Slumdog Millionaire" winning Oscars, I'd say Van Damme was robbed of at least a nomination. I mean, I liked "Milk", but was Sean Penn THAT good in it? Okay, just saying "JCVD" got ignored because it was a Van Damme film, which is unfair, because Jean-Claude is fantastic in it--just show you how good he can be when acting in his native language. France needs to stop churning out romantic comedies, put some funding behind serious action flicks (with strong human drama in the mix) and give Van Damme a go.
