, and it kinda surprise me that people here hate this book.
I mean, They actually make a list of 1001 films! 1001!! that’s a lot! that’s kinda exciting.
Good for start, good for discover, right? I’m sure most people here haven’t watched all the film in the list.
(I checked it, I’ve watched only 289 of them)
What is your good “list of best film” books for you guys anyway?
1.) Spider-Man 3 (2007) the worst movie of all time
2.) The Missing (2003) (Taiwanese film)
3.) Suriyothai(2001) (Thai film)
4.) Funny Games 1997/2007 (Michael Haneke)
5.) He Got Games (2003) (Spike Lee)
6.) Juno
7.) Friend With Money (2006)
Hello Dimitris, I am one of those people who mention films like Funny Games and Juno.
Well, you might be right I may not know what is shit and what is not.
But I didn’t say those films are shit. I just consider watching them was a bad experience for me.
Those are films that actually “hurt me.” I am sure there are worse films out there (in term of ‘quality’, whatever that is)
I think Ebert (who also don’t like the film) called Funny Games one of those films that
“You don’t have to sit through the whole thing to get the point, unless you really want to.”
which I really agree.
Your list: most of them are kinda stupid comedy movies,
and for me “stupid comedy” is genre, so they were supposed to be “bad.”
I don’t even bother to see it. But anyway it’s your opinions.
I’ve seen ‘Click’ (on tv) I don’t like it at all, but that was my expectation, so it didn’t hurt me at all.
.
By the way, I haven’t seen “Dragon Inn” but I saw “Goodbye Dragon Inn” a few years ago, and I like it a lot.
But I hate another Taiwanese film called “The Missing” by Kang-sheng Lee
(actor who has been working in most(all?) of Ming-liang Tsai’s film.)
It was just a Ming-liang Tsai-wannabe film for me – dreadful, boring, and pretentious.
And I also think “MUST SEE BEFORE YOU DIE” concept is tricky.
I mean, this is not the list of “Best Film Ever.”
If you ask me you must(should) see “Fahrenheit 9/11” before you die….
but…you don’t have to see “Adaptation”.. if you really don’t have time….
But personally, I love ‘Adaptation’ a lot!! And don’t care much for ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’.
Adaptation, for me, is a very very good film.
I don’t know…:)
about the IN/OUT things.
I strongly disagree with the removal of..
…Mulholland Dr. (2001)
…What Time Is It There? (2001)
…Russian Ark (2002)
Those are films that you must “SEE BEFORE YOU DIE”
I don’t care if will you hate it or love it, you must see it.
