About Me

I write comic books. Comic books write me. Together, comic books and I write you. Currently “Unknown Soldier” for Vertigo/DC. My work with Neil Young, “Greendale” the graphic novel, hits this June!

Until the Light Takes Us

Complete apologist piece for Vikernes. No mention of his role in the Heathen Front. No confrontation about his earlier writings in neo-nazi zines. It's as if his Odinism somehow exists outside his racist, pure-blood nationalism and eugenicism. Vikernes' real extremism goes completely unexplored. I'm not looking for demonization, I'm looking for basic, fully realized journalism. It's not here.

A really surprising amount of people in the comic industry are on Mubi :P Anyhow: Big fan, aspiring/close-to-published comic book writer, huge fan of Unknown Soldier, glad to see I'm not the only one who was underwhelmed by Inception.

Hey Chris! Thanks for the kind words! Spread the news, we got nominated for an Eisner for issue #21. Best issue of the year. Go tell it to the mountain. In the past I've been really humble about this sort of thing, but we want to win it this year! We're up against Mignola and Willingham! They have a million Eisners apiece. Go forth and preach unto the masses so that they may vote in our favor! Thanks for finding me on here!

Haha, I'll be sure to do that! Huge congratulations on the Eisner nomination, most would kill just to get nominated and I think there's a good chance you'll win. Just out of curiosity, what didn't you like about Oldboy? It's one of my favorite movies, easily in my top 10, although I'll chalk a lot of that up to the ending totally blindsiding me and forcing me to curl up in a ball and weep whenever I was in the shower for like...a week afterwards. (I don't understand folks who say the ending was "predictable", where were the clues??)

Saw your comments about Guadagnino's I Am Love - fans of that film seem few and far between - hence the Follow. Cool to see you are an active comic-book writer - seems everyone is writing comics these days! (a friend of mine just released Wayward Sons - not sure if you know it). Good luck with Greendale.

This has, many, many times been called the most beautiful color film ever made. It’s hard to disagree. A poetic biblical parable played out in the Texas Panhandle at the turn of the century, it gives…  read review

A study of music as cultural identity and the black struggle, all dressed up in the lazy guise of a blaxploitation flick (really it’s
more of a jazzsploitation flick). The narrative is contrived…  read review
