Yep. It's the best Glawogger doc though Kill Daddy Goodnight is still my favorite of his. Glad you liked Trust. I love that movie.
I've only seen Whores' Glory and Workingman's Death, but I thought the textures and structure of Whores' Glory, and the soundtrack, were incredible. Trust was like meeting your old friend's parents and everything suddenly making sense. And oh my god Martin Donovan.
Everything you said about Laurence Anyways was true. I can't remember the last time I loved a movie as much as I love it. I never thought I'd be head over heels for a Dolan film... I can't get it (especially Suzanne Clément) off my mind!
I wanted to talk to you about it! IT WAS SO LOUD. I was prepared for something low-key like Drive or Rian Johnson's ruminative Breaking Bad episodes (he directed two of my favorites) but Looper felt like a regular ol' blow-em-up action movie -- with that score, oy -- and JGL played Joe like a black hole. Loved the exploding chest, though, and Emily Blunt was doing it for me.
All of this said I recognize it IS a good film, and my reaction is probably more a failure of my taste
