total package when it comes to a full movie theater experience. A film like this can ONLY be seen on the big screen with all the appropriate amenities. Explosive and surprisingly funny...stayed tuned until the VERY end for an amazing teaser.
This film had me from the opening and kept me enthralled until the very last frame. Andrea Arnold has made 3 brilliant films and this one is right at the top. I loved pretty much everything about this film....the colors, textures, cinematography, the sparse but powerful script. This is filmmaking at it's very best
every frame of Isabelle Adjani in this film drives me crazy.
Really enjoyed this slice of arrested development. Theron took total control of this role and Patton Oswalt was terrific although wish he would broaden his dramatic pallette a bit and play against type sometimes
Only giving it 2 stars because I appreciate that it didn't hold back on geeky baseball statistics and numbers. It's def. a film for the sports stats fan BUT as a movie its completely overwrought and pure oscar bait.
forever I have waited for a film( antichrist, realm of the senses, salo notwithstanding) to make me feel SO uneasy but retain a lyrical and unique filmmaking/watching experience...this BE THE ONE. Watched it a few weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it in a variety of ways...well bloody done.
ALSO brings to mind...where the hell is the amazing Mia Kirshner now??
some surprising laughs in this one. Better than most of the shit that comes out of the same cannon
Truly a film for film lovers...I believe those people who say they didn't "get it"
One of the year's best hands down. Loved that Shannon's Illness(or percieved illness) was never taken to farce or over dramatic limits...You're with him the entire time and like him trying to figure out just what's going on...Absolutely zero audience pandering and for that I appreciate this film for tackling a touchy subject
high marks for the stylish but never overdone editing and Swinton's magnificent performance
Not ashamed to say I watched this just for Amanda Seyfried and her wig. That's all. It was exactly what I expected
These 2 make a dynamic pair :D this film just unfolded so naturally and pure Altman. It was all about the other conversation
brilliantly executed ensemble playground for these 4 and I seriously could have watched that escalate for several hours :) In the hands of a less capable cast it could have gone very different....Waltz is incredible and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does next....Also very nice to see Jodie Foster not only playing type but pretty much losing her shit :D
I loved this the same way I loved Kick Ass. Just good fun and turning a genre on it's head.
Excellent film and caught me off guard. I Loved the fact that the film's surroundings/setting were both large and small yet every frame gave me a claustrophobic feeling...Also seemed as though the film's outdoor/daytime settings seemed much darker than it's indoor/night settings...Elizabeth Olsen completely absorbed the tormented role and I hope she keeps doing smaller films like this.
A great collage of surreal treats and conjures similar imagery to a number of films like Spirited away...Nice to watch such a free work :)
very good soundtrack and genuine creeps all around. Shouldn't be as overlooked as it is
can't fake that kind of on screen chemistry...excellent comedy!
BLEEEEEEEAAAAK is right...loved it though :)
Has to be the new benchmark creatively for the superhero/comic book genre. Incredible and cartoonish fight sequences and funny over the top characters...don't be skeptical of this one.
not one of his best but vastly different than anything at the time in terms of "sci-fi epic"...some truly funny moments are what stay with me :)
so many intimate and nuanced scenes in this movie...a lot of the first person perspective shots were incredible and add in natural soundtrack of creaky wagons, rolling hills etc and this is easily one of the best of the year. And Michelle Willaims is the real deal! ( I know a lot who say otherwise OR they just haven't seen her work)
watched an old vhs copy last night and blew me away...both characters didn't stop talking :D
terrible effort from the Eastbound crew...because of their now storied lineage in the last decade I expected this to be SO funny...it sucked. SO many wasted moments and McBride pretty much just played a less aggressive Kenny Powers without ANY semblance of a former "somebody"....just plain ol' disappointing. the girls in that tribe were all insanely hot though.
this is EXACTLY what I expected. also has one of the best lines of any movie this year in " DON'T YOU DIE ON ME YOU FUCKING WHORE!!"...
One of his finest films...How can one film be staged and natural at once. Such a craftsman.
Thrilling. All the way through. His finest film to date.
more like 3.86/5...some moments and lightning quick scenes were almost breathtaking...I wish the shot of him at the Kid's party around the 20 minute mark had been longer by about 30 seconds. His character would have already defined by then.
............Ben Gazzara....Ben Gazzara....
