This one's really all about that ending! Man, I remember spending the night at my cousin's back in the '80s and staying up all night to watch this on HBO (we didn't have cable TV yet). Good times. We thought the flick was a little slow overall, but dug the last few minutes anyway. Creepy electronic score!
"two wealthy and spoiled young men whom date and degrate women"... Degrate?
Ah, and added just in time for Christmas. :D
I've somehow managed to never get around to this one yet (never been much into serial-killer-on-the-loose films). The still is motivating me to finally check it out soon.
I'm in the middle of this on Netflix streaming right now. Considering Christina Lindberg's raw beauty and "prodigious physical attributes", I think a better image could have been chosen from it, but hey. Film's kinda' slow so far.
Where's THE SENSUOUS NURSE (1973)?
Just got done playing some Left 4 Dead 2 tonight and then I happen upon this on TCM--perfect timing! One of my favorite things in life is accidentally coming across NOTLD on late night TV (which is sadly pretty rare nowadays).
@Vince Noir: That goes without saying.
Chaplin's all up in my Netflix queue right now. Illegal amounts of fun being had!
"Bomb" or not (I've read the reviews)... Mario Bava + Vincent Price + Francesco Mulé + Laura Antonelli + Les Baxter = I want to watch this.
Any resemblance between the characters in this picture and any persons, living or dead, is a miracle.
This chilling masterpiece contains one of my favorite creepy scenes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7qWwgtPolU
Saw this on a drive-in double-bill with Fulci's ZOMBIE (1979) when I was a kid. ZOMBIE totally warped my fragile little mind (and I loved it). Then this one came on, but was not at all what I was expecting. We left halfway through. I was really disappointed with it. Finally re-visited it several months ago (this time watching the whole thing) and still agree with my original opinion.
I swear this is one of those films that for some reason has just never looked that good to me, but people (and reviews) keep telling me I need to see it, so whatever. Not a big Billy Connolly fan but I AM a huuuge fan of zombie movies so at least there's that.
Watched this on Netflix streaming last night. Nothing much new here if you've seen a lot of horror documentaries before (which I have and happen to be a real sucker for). Kind of bland but alright.
This film definitely puts the mumble in mumblecore! Drove me insane. Clearly the dialog (such as it is) was all just improvised on the spot the moment they hit the *record* button. Which would be fine if the actors were actually good at it. But everyone here is very rambling, pretentious, and ultimately, have nothing to really say.
Hey, if Jane Birkin moved in next door to me I'd be peepin' too!
I've got this on a double feature DVD from Something Weird Video, and while the film itself is pretty lame (despite a great title!), I did rip the spooky organ music from it to MP3 for further enjoyment. Though maybe I shouldn't admit that.
I'll have to check this out sometime. I happen to dig grungy films.
(Fixed!) As a lifelong space nut and amateur astronomer myself, I LOVE space documentaries. The rare footage in this one is definitely breathtaking, but personally, the new age-y Brian Eno soundtrack (and country music) didn't quite work for me. This is great, but I still prefer IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON.
Not a perfect film (liked it a lot more when i first saw it many years ago) but I'm a sucker for anything about time travel (and starring Malcolm McDowell). Never have been crazy about Steenburgen in this, though. And, of course, this pales in comparison to THE TIME MACHINE (1960), which I actually just watched again a few days ago.
Yeah, the MST3K version is definitely the way to go with this one. :D
Finally watched this last night. As a big fan of '70s-era Sutherland (& Julie Christie nakedness), I had a good time with it. A very quiet & subdued film, that really, REALLY takes its time getting where it's going. I expected more creepy scenes of "spotting the dead daughter in the streets", when that actually only happens a couple very fleeting moments. It's more about the weird psychic sisters. Film looks great!
The current still being used is not from GODMONSTER OF INDIAN FLATS. Nice Something Weird Video watermark, too. :D
Missed it in theaters (came and went almost overnight where I live) and have been waiting to see the complete "Grindhouse" theatrical experience with all the trailers intact. I've refused to buy (or even watch) the separated, expanded "director's" cut DVD releases (with no trailers). I want the original theatrical experience my first time. Now that it's finally(!) been released on DVD & Blu-ray in the States, I can.
Cute movie. Good, clean Halloween viewing fun. I give the movie 3 stars, Elvira herself (and her ample talents) 5! ;)
Pretty amateurish and stupid... but it's title is Night of the Living *BREAD*, and is an homage to one of my absolute favorite films of all time, so I'll give it an extra 1/2 star for those two reasons.
Kind of bugs me that the still being used here (at the time of this post) is not actually from THIS movie (it's from one of the lame sequels). You guys need to get a shot up from the original 1979 version for this entry. Yeah, I'm a horror geek. :)
How can you not like this movie? I mean, just look at the pic.
I watched this last night. Was OK, but I still much prefer KAIRO (I think it's scarier, too). This is more of a bizarre serial killer/police procedural mystery movie, whereas KAIRO is much more straight-up horror (which I prefer), and infused with a more palpable sense of dread and the supernatural. This was good, just not AS good for me.
