I love films from this region. My favorite is Emir Kusturica and his masterpieces UNDERGROUND and TIME OF THE GYPSIES. Both amazing pieces of art. So what do you guys think?
Okay, Pretty Woman was on my number 1 spot. But then I saw Sweet November and I was so sure this is the movie that makes me cringe, oh yeah this was it I thought to myself. And then Cold Mountain. Am I totally alone on this?
Why is this happening? And why is Will Smith in it? I smell a disaster. I hate it when a director wants to remake a movie that’s just a few years old. Does Spielberg think he can do it better? Is this a form of admiration? If it is then buy the DVD collector’s addition and call it a day Mr. Hollywood.
I just went for a nice long run and I came home and my wonderful wife made chocolate chip pancakes and beacon for dinner. I also had two Shiner Bocks, really good beer by the way.
You got some sweet recommendations here. The source that I go to all the time is 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. It’s a great book for people who want a reference on some of the world’s best cinema. The book breaks it down for you by story, production, actors, directors and so on. It’s like a dictionary for movie buffs. I suggest you start out with a few Charlie Chaplin films. Don’t let the “silent movie” thing scare you away from Mr. Chaplin. THE GOLD RUSH, CITY LIMITS, and MODERN TIMES are all classics that need to be viewed at least once.
Stanley Kubrick is one of my all time favorites. Put these Kubrick films on your must see list:
CLOCKWORK ORANGE
DR. STRANGELOVE
FULL METAL JACKET
Not everyone is a Kubrick fan but if you give him a try you’ll be impressed by his bold vision and talent. So there you go, not a bad start.
I thought BAD EDUCATION was an amazing film by an amazing director. DOWNFALL was quite surreal, great acting. I also enjoyed an offbeat little film called SAVE THE GREEN PLANET. Check this one out, it’s funny with plenty of twists in the plot.
Yes, Jennifer Aniston was in the first Leprechaun, thought she was hilarious. The second movie was far better of course. The Hood movies are classics and for the most part my favorite. Leprechaun In Space had moments and it is a good bad movie.
Hey Truman Sparks, sorry about the confusion but we’re all talking about The Leprechaun and the many sequels that follow. I’m sure you didn’t mean to say “it’s all shit” to the Leprechaun movies. You were probably referring to the Twilight New Moon blah blah vampire movies. Sorry I haven’t seen those yet.
