What film scenes really make you cry? over 2 years ago

Recently, I just watched Rabbit Hole and the scene where Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart started fighting that made terrified and shed tears too. Oh and basement scene too with Dianne Wiest, it was peaceful yet so sorrowful.

do u take ratings seriously? over 2 years ago

Well, ratings are meant to state the films good or bad. So i think they are used to influence people’s interest at some point. That means I don’t take it seriously .

Best Speech or Monologue In A Film almost 2 years ago

I always find it fascinating when I watch someone delivers a speech or just a monologue in a film. Whether it’s short or long.

I’m looking for any input about films that have great scenes where someone does that.

Best Speech or Monologue In A Film almost 2 years ago

Ah yeah, I’ve seen Network and it’s full of good speeches. I also remember a scene from Devil Wears Prada where Meryl Streep gives a monologue about fashion. Good stuff too.

I should start watching those films you all post here.

Someone just posted this earlier and deleted it, but I found it to be really good.

Multiple Views Versus One View of a Film almost 2 years ago

There are films that at first didn’t really impress me, such as There Will Be Blood, Half Nelson, and especially The Hours. But then however after first viewing, they got me thinking and the more I think about them, the more I wanna see them again. Upon my second viewing of those 3 films, strangely enough they became my favorite as in I really saw what’s great in those films. So I always welcome the chance of multiple viewing.

(Build-up) The Great Gatsby.... almost 2 years ago

Why did they decide to make it in 3D? What’s it gonna add into the story or the whole film? Does Luhrmann have something special in mind and is he going to make it in crazy visual or what? I can’t comprehend this. But I’m still excited because of the cast.

I really like Scott Pilgrim but when I heard the commentary by the actors, bah, bad and unnecessary. I then realized they are just kids.

Most Hated Actor and Actress almost 2 years ago

That guy from I am Number Four
That wolfguy in Twilight
Channing Tatum. He’s a freakin model who can’t act.
Ashton Kutcher. Please stop those romcom comedies. And that New Year’s Eve movie. Ugh.
Marlon Brando. I don’t know he looks like he’s trying so hard.
Sean Penn. I feel like I wanna smack his face in Milk, Tree of Life, and everything else.

Emma Stone. She started off cute in Zombieland. Then all the comedies came up, then she looks so stiff and overacting.

Please don’t tell me I’m a hateful person :(

Best and worst film adaptations almost 2 years ago

I think Never Let Me Go is great, but it could be so much better if the film is longer. They left out many explanations or actions that could give us a lot of understandings from the book. But since the books is already bleak, maybe they’re afraid it’ll turn people off by making a 2 hour film of such tragedy.

I just saw Submarine and it succeed in bringing the cuteness but it failed to bring the adventure of the boy finding his mother’s secret.

A great example is The Hours which is just so great in translating the book by Michael Cunningham.

Movies your parents like almost 2 years ago

Since my father knew about Netflix Instant I always see my “recently watched” filled with erotic films. Good job, Dad.

I caught my mother watching 8 MILE few days ago and warned her. She’s now craving for Kevin Costner’s films. My mother also prefers The King’s Speech than The Social Network. I can see why.

My parents are not that good with English so that’s why they don’t mind watching films with profanity and even sex scenes as long the story is good and relevant.

Art Direction almost 2 years ago

That shot from 2001 is really what I thought of Art Direction.
Recent example from recent film is The King’s Speech which actually has better art direction but lost last year.
I also think Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola is what describes Art Direction.
