About Me

I am a life long fan of all cinema as well as the writer/director/producer of the upcoming Moderngrumble. I use this site for rating new and old films, meeting new like minded friends, and collaborators, and promoting my film which you can find out more about in Mubi’s Production Notes where I detail the crowdfunding journey we undertook to realize the below trailer. I can honestly say that we would not have made it this far if not for Mubi, and the great filmmakers and fans, I have met here. All hail Mubi!

Moderngrumble is the coming of age tale of a young monster and possible messiah. A road movie through the deep South but not the one we know. This is an alternate version of the South that has developed according to William Blake’s ‘Song of Urizen,’ a creation myth that holds strange ideas about life, love and worship. The film’s visual style is heavily influenced, not by the titans of horror cinema but art cinema; Tarkovsky, Bresson, Ozu, and the like. And as such will result in a horror film quite unlike anything we have seen before in mainstream or independent horror. never been a fan of Zombie's movies but this one is definitely a step forward for the director and definitely one I will re-watch.

Didn't think anyone other than my friends and I would like "My Breakfast With...". I stand corrected. Glad you liked it :)

I just saw "Kairo (Pulse)" which was pretty good although I think "Cure" is a much stronger piece of work (and scarier). IMO, "Tokyo Sonata" might be his best work to date and to be honest, it's a relief to see him migrate away from J-horror and apply his talents to more intimate films.

I had put down Blood Meridian several years ago after 30 or 40 pages (I had been interested by Roger Ebert saying that it was the most violent Western novel he'd read), but I decided to try it again and I appreciated the experience. It definitely takes a while to let the atmosphere settle in and let the story play out. The Judge is one of the scariest characters I've ever met in literature. As for Vengeance, I still haven't gotten to it yet (my viewing habits are odd, depending on whatever catches my eye when I'm not busy), although I try and distance myself from anything hyped so that I can give it fair judgment.
