About Me

This site is comprised of an awesome, and diverse group of cinephiles. It is its members who make the site great by their contributions and opinions. This is the sole reason I will remain here.

I am a person with many passions, especially anything creative. My love for cinema goes back to my childhood fascination with television shows and old horror films and silent films that I spent many hours studying. My love of the auteur and art house cinema came as a teenager when I first saw Fellini’s Juliet of The Spirits, Antonioni’s Blow Up, and Bergman’s Wild Strawberries. Though I love much of cinema my first love is with the director/writer who is true to his or her unique personal vision of the world. Like all great art, whether it be visual, literal, musical, or as with theatre a convergence of all of these elements there is a spiritual dimension to great cinema. Something that makes us question and wonder and dig beneath the surface of life.

If anyone in the Denver area is interested in forming a film discussion group I would love to talk to you. It is so hard meeting true cinephiles who appreciate the same films I do.*

I would give this film 3 1/2 stars. It is a noble effort by Bresson but marred by his insistence on getting “natural” performances by amateurs. From what I have gleaned, it took numerous takes to get…  read review

I am astonished at the praise this film is receiving. While I am very pleased that this is bringing much needed attention to the Great George Melies and his oeuvre, I wonder if I saw the same film…  read review

Somewhere

Very disappointing. I give it 3 out of 5 because Elle Fanning’s performance is very good and the film is competently made but Sofia Coppola needs to reexamine the great films about emptiness – try…  read review

The Ghost Writer

Polanski is a master of subtlety, grace, and wit. His eye creates breathtaking and beautiful shots. His ear adds a malevolent and demented humor to the score of a film. There is most always something…  read review
