I am not sure that any comparison to Lolita can be made here aside from the fact that both narratives contain an older man being physically interested in a young girl - but regardless, the motivations for Humbert Humbert's attraction to Lolita and Jerome's attraction to Claire constitute two entirely stories, each moral being interesting in it's own right.
