All that go in that maze never learn from their mistakes, therefore never grow, therefore are stuck in the maze until the Minotaur kills them. This is what happens to Jack, while Danny does learn from himself (traces his foot prints, in fact the ONLY time Danny doesn't listen to the 'Shining's Warnings' is when he goes into that room, and he pays for it. Jack ignores it ALL THE TIME. To the point that after he sees the lady in the room and Wendy asks him what was there, he says 'Nothing.' It's more complex than that, but that's a good starter.
