About Andrei Tarkovsky

I can't express enough how I'm really deeply affected by his fondness of the human face and the natural beauty of surroundings that transcends through his consciousness of time and space. The bleak desolated image he captures combined with the careful observation of moments remind me of Bazin's notion of 'ambiguity of reality' by the minimal montage intervention, flourishing the capability of cinema to be a distinct form of art in its ability to capture time. The strange thing is, for some reason, he feels like a figure of fatherhood in my personal relationship to cinema.
