About ATTEMPT AT A SELF-PORTRAIT THROUGH THE LISTING OF 21 FAVORITE FILMS - VALID TODAY ONLY

I had to pick one by him, and I didn't have time to look through the whole list for another. But yes I like it. I like that it never congeals and that almost everything about it is at least slightly awkward; and given that two of the main actors have actual handicaps that might be intentional. Also, even with the poor performances it manages to be casual and naturalistic, while maintaining an atmosphere of the mythic. It's both distant and intimate. It's obviously not as good as his "great" films, but sometimes I don't like "perfect" films.
