yeah! i read some analysis that states Marvin didn't even exist par se, or existed solely to get his money and then go back to death. you can see from his one and only goal, the surreality of the whole movie, and the full circle beginning and end in Alcratraz; where he doesn't pick up the money but fades back into non-existence. thought that was really awesome.
