Just as it was in La Collectionneuse, Almendros’ pastoral photography is stunning, making this an attractive film from the start. But unlike that work, the screenplay and dialogue in this one are much more down-to-earth and accessible, to the point of making this a much warmer outing. All in all, it's an enjoyable, thoughtful and easy film to watch.
