What is most incredible about Jackson's portrayal of the events is that he neither exonerates nor demonizes its characters. One can see the events the lead to the crime and its tragic aftermath and feel empathy for the girls and yet still find them absolutely responsible for their actions. Well deserved Oscar nod. Could easily be argued to be Peter Jackson's best film.
