Interesting ideas squandered by lazy execution, the dialogue and plotting feel like the sort of rambling nonsense that would emerge if Mike Leigh possessed significantly less talent. There is a mysterious edge behind all the mumbly goings-on, but it's indecipherable nature doesn't feel compelling, just sloppy. Wading through the freak-infested darkness just ain't rewarding here. Watch THE WICKER MAN again instead.
