Earthlings About
Earthlings

The comparison of Holocaust victims with animals killed at slaughterhouses is insulting. The film uses doubtful methods of reasoning with the main of them being shock, which is more of the characteristic of a propaganda movie than a documentary one. I haven't found any inner discussion in it as well as any more or less serious attempts to fathom animal psychology and perception of pain/suffering.

It's not about put human on the same level as animals, it's about pain at the same level as pain.

which is wrong as humans' perception of pain is strongly connected with our intellect and memory

Insulting how? because you think human suffering is somehow more important than animal suffering?...

exactly. the suffering of the creature that posseses a skill of self-conciousness is more important

Again comparing, just to justify that you kill animals.

comparing is a traditional scientific method. there's nothing wrong with it.

On the subject of science, consciousness, and the comparative importance of animal and human suffering, see the following post on the scientific announcement that animals are as humans in the possession of self-reflective consciousness. Okay but that doesn't make the film a valuable piece of documentary art which is what my actual post is about. Feeling mercy to animals? No way. The only reason I might stop eating meat is that it's really hard for me to cook it.

(worse than the Holocaust in terms of suffering, actually)
