im grateful that this film has weaknesses. i have spent most of my life in areas like those depicted in the film, and i don't like thinking about it. the occasional cliches of dialogue and the events that drop the film's verisimilitude stop it from hitting TOO close to home and thoroughly depressing me. pretty much the same as can be said for similar films like Naked.
