About Andrzej Żuławski
"Szamanka" is a total flop. I think that his early films such as "The Third Part of the Night" and "The Devil" constitute the highest points in Zulawski's cinematography. Both had enormous problems with communist censors. Both came ahead of time in terms of their content, narratives, style and execution. "On the Silver Globe" was blocked by the Polish authorities and resumed much too late, but it's a fascinating movie.
