The first time I saw this movie I thought it was fantastic. The second time, it lost some of its charm. But I stiil think it's a good story with a great thinking about time memory, and how they support our notion of experience.

    Agreed; it was released during a period when there were a lot of movies examining reality released (e.g., The Matrix, The Truman Show, Dark City, eXistenz, etc.), and this one did the same, but did it not by questioning what we see, but how we see. And it chose to avoid some of the large distractions that the more fantastic elements of most of the others used to make themselves more appealing.
