I was most interested in seeing this film because of John Banville's involvement with the script. As it turns out, Close essentially adapted it herself and only hired Banville to Irish it up a bit. What a waste of a BRILLIANT novelist's time! The film might have been a true gem if she had left the writing to Banville. Its shaky and uninspired script is its biggest problem.
