On greg x's Wall
Well, Greg, you're certainly right about the scarcity of material on Vorhaus. There's a curious thing in Kehr's article. He says that BV was ghost-writer for Seventh Heaven, and there's no mention of this in Herve Dumont's comprehensive book on Borzage which Kehr is familiar with. I'll have to look into that. ///// I understand about the occasional need for a change of pace. I have also seen more tv than usual of late, on disc, of course. I'm not really comfortable with the series format. I bailed out of Boardwalk Empire which I rather liked, although one might take exception to the proliferation of 21st century bodies, lovely though they may be. Not only did we have faces in the twenties (and with all due respect to Norma Desmond, we still do), but we also had thighs! I watched the entire season of Game of Thrones with a few breaks here and there, as I want to be ready when the marvelous Carice Van Houten turns up. Not a genre that I favor, but so many people I know, including both my daughters, adore the books and tv show, that I thought I should take a look. I did like the new version of Mildred Pierce. That length is about my limit for one story. ///// Movie-wise, I've been catching up with some of the "foreigners" I've discovered here, like the Finnish melodramatist Teuvo Tulio, and I revisited the first Italian movie I wanted to see, Bitter Rice. Children were not admitted, but I did get to see the trailer several times, with Silvana Mangano and all those bare-legged girls working in the rice paddies. I was too young at the time to knows why I found this appealing, but there it is. ///// Stay well, Greg. Bob
