For a few moments, this film seems devoted to a very classical form, elegantly constructed around cornball, yet always effective, emotional moments. Yet, overall, it digresses into a terrible ripoff of the Rocky films (ah, he beat him the same way Rocky beat Clubber Lang!), without any of the soul of Stallone's films.
