On HKFanatic's Wall

Read your thoughts on *Prometheus* with interest—going to check it out this week and am anxious to see what my gut reaction is. (Any recommendation on whether the 3D adds anything? I generally skip 3D altogether ...). Somehow it's taken me until this year to get around to watching any of the *Alien* films. I've seen three of the four since January (watching the original twice), and only have Fincher's left to tackle (though from what I've read, I'll likely skip the Theatrical Version and go straight to the "special edition" version on the Blu).

The 3D is so subtle most of the time that it's practically unnoticeable - "Avatar" this ain't - but I did enjoy the extra immersion provided by the IMAX format. People are derogatorily comparing "Prometheus" to "Alien 3," "Alien: Resurrection," and (to a lesser extent) "Event Horizon," but I found Ridley's film superior to all of them. Perhaps the script's biggest sin is that it raises so many profound, interesting questions and then doesn't really *do* anything with them, but the film was an enjoyable and frequently visceral experience for me nonetheless. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
