About
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
The ageist and racist plot elements driven by human fear, all staged to an extreme degree by the excellence of smoothly swinging camera movements and vibrant colours, represent cliched everyday situations stylized by the sirkian melodramatic codes. But the film's honest core can't be overlooked given the perception of "the different", "the other" by an american-dominated democratic culture such as BRD's. Unlike Petra von Kant, Emmi sees that love can last without demands or without being object of ownership; but she cannot shut her eyes to the sale conditions of human emotions within a capitalist society.
