My first viewing of this was confusing. I was trying to keep up, and I missed subtle details (or not so subtle, really, like the whole subplot of Snaut and his visitor) Technically, it's a masterpiece, but the ambiguous narrative hurts it. Tarkovsky once said you needed to watch his films more than once, but with that running length, you're not ensuring yourself any favors. However, I WILL watch it again soon.
