Boyle's follow-up to his award-laden Slumdog Millionaire was this flashily directed true story of survival, a genre in film I have a particular affinity for. Franco plays the initially cocky but later terrified canyoneer who becomes trapped in a freak accident somewhere in Utah. On screen for almost the enitre film, his performance was always going to be key to the film's success and I think he did a mighty fine job.
