    Hello Ira. I've been quite busy with personal matters, teaching matters, as well as a desistfilm writing deadline. I've only been able to watch an out of competiton film, my friend Sig Sanchez's Ang Mga Kidnapper ni Ronnie Lazaro.

    hope all is well, jp. :) i wish immortality for desistfilm; it's seriously a wonderful (and radical) film journal. im not sure if i can make it to Ang Mga Kidnapper ni Ronnie Lazaro at cinemalaya goes UP. and cinemalaya has been pretty decent in spite of all the controversies - then again, all the films feel rushed, is it right to presume that cinemalaya's deadlines are virtually impossible? anyways, catch you at the next lav diaz screening - if there happens to be one this year!

    Thank you for the kind words on desistfilm. I am also hoping it continues forever. It's a labor of love for everyone involved but we hope to sustain it for as long as possible. Based on what I hear from friends who were former Cinemalaya grantees, the deadlines are tough and of course you have what is basically a film "studio" disguised as a committee breathing down your neck. As for a Lav Diaz screening, Lav said that Florentina Hubaldo will premiere at this year's Cinemanila so I hope to see you there.
