Solaris

Given the release date, one would expect to see Andrei Tarkovsky's own version of '2001: A Space Odyssey', but 'Solyaris' is more an anticipation of 'Zerkalo' and 'Stalker', rather than a film about the outer space. It is impossible not to notice the evolution of Tarkovsky: the imagery is already incredibly breathtaking, the pace is calmer than in Rublev, the themes are as high as always, and the poetry even higher.
