McQueen's provocative New York-set drama, beautifully photographed, is a painful but compelling viewing experience. Fassbender gives a brave and fearless performance as an emotionally blank sex addict whose empty life of hedonistic excess spirals out of control after his troubled sister moves into his apartment. It's certainly bleak and rather depressing but it's a great film. I wouldn't want to see it again though..
