About
The Master
A film about the syndromes of an era. Brands of psychosis with dizzying optical tricks and a languorous pace; fast lenses & faces. PTA presents the interior world of Quell as illusory and ephemeral against the endless processes of Dodd’s world shot with the formal rigidity of an ethnographic film. Maybe just go see it for the absurdity of Hoffman singing not 1 but 2 songs and on one occasion entirely unironically.
