About
Sin City
The approach to adapting a legendary comic book by using the panels on the page as storyboards is interesting, but Miller's talky dialogue doesn't sound natural or even interesting coming out of the actors' mouths, and the slavish adherence to Miller's artwork doesn't translate well, giving the actors very little to do, providing the perfect recipe for wooden performances. I know Rodriguez likes to play it fast and loose with his shooting, but too much attention was given to framing and very little was given to anything else in front of the camera. Granted, after post-production it looks great, but there's very little beneath the slick comic-book exterior. An interesting experiment, but a failed one.
